Start with the process
Cutting, welding, marking, and cleaning use power in different ways. A value in watts or kilowatts cannot be interpreted without pulse duration, focusing, and material interaction.

Material and geometry
Thickness, thermal conductivity, reflectivity, surface condition, and joint geometry influence the required energy. Alloys that look similar on paper may respond differently.

Throughput and quality
More power can increase speed, but not always quality or stability. The objective is a robust process window, not maximum power used continuously.

Validate on real parts
Define acceptance criteria, run trials, measure cycle time, and calculate cost per part using a realistic utilization rate.
The comparison must always return to your parts, volumes, and quality criteria. A representative trial remains the basis of a reliable industrial decision.
